The Youth Olympic Games run from 31 October to 13 November 2026 across three hubs: Dakar, Diamniadio and Saly. Below is a sport by sport map of the official venues, with the easiest way to reach each one. Dakar hub: Tour de l'Œuf, Iba Mar Diop and the Corniche Ouest

This is the easiest hub if you are staying in the city, whether in Almadies, Mermoz, Point E, Ngor or the Plateau.

  • Complexe Tour de l'Œuf: 3x3 basketball, Baseball5, breaking, swimming and skateboarding.
  • Complexe Iba Mar Diop, in Médina: athletics, boxing, futsal and rugby sevens.
  • Corniche Ouest: road cycling.

Taxis are the most practical option here. A ride within the city usually costs between 1,500 and 4,000 FCFA; agree on the fare before getting in. Yango and Heetch work well in Dakar, but you pay in cash or with Wave or Orange Money, not by card. On road cycling days, traffic along the Corniche may be disrupted, so check official announcements.

Diamniadio hub: take the TER to the new city

Diamniadio, about thirty kilometres from central Dakar, hosts most of the indoor sports.

  • Dakar Arena: badminton and the futsal finals.
  • Centre des Expositions de Diamniadio: artistic gymnastics, fencing, judo, table tennis, taekwondo and wushu.
  • Centre équestre de Diamniadio: equestrian events.
  • Stade Abdoulaye Wade: archery.

Your best bet is the TER, the regional express train running from Dakar station in the Plateau to Diamniadio, with stops at Colobane, Hann, Pikine, Thiaroye, Rufisque and Bargny. Keep in mind that Keur Massar, Parcelles Assainies, Guédiawaye, Almadies and Ngor are not on the line, so take a taxi to the nearest station first. Saly hub: beach sports on the Petite-Côte

Saly plage ouest hosts beach handball, beach volleyball, beach wrestling, coastal rowing, triathlon and sailing. It is the furthest hub: Saly is about 80 km from Dakar, roughly 1 h 15 to 2 h on the toll motorway depending on traffic.

  • By car or taxi: the motorway is the only sensible route. A private taxi one way is often negotiated between 25,000 and 40,000 FCFA; settle the price before leaving.
  • Mixed option: TER to Diamniadio, then a taxi to Saly to shorten the road section.
  • Stay over: spending a night or two in Saly or Mbour saves exhausting round trips, especially with children.

Practical tips for spectators

  • Schedules and tickets: rely only on the official website or app of the Dakar 2026 organizing committee for session times and ticketing.
  • Money: Visa is the most widely accepted foreign card in hotels, supermarkets and malls, but taxis, markets and small shops expect cash in FCFA. ATMs are the simplest way to get it. Wave and Orange Money need a Senegalese SIM and ID, so short-stay visitors usually stick to cash and card.
  • Weather: early November is still hot: bring a hat, sunscreen and water.
  • Athletes' families: competitors are aged 15 to 18. Book accommodation close to your athlete's main hub.
  • Emergencies: police 17, fire brigade 18.
