• a Visa card, the most widely accepted foreign card in hotels, supermarkets, malls, many Dakar restaurants and Saly resorts;
• cash in FCFA, still essential in markets, taxis and small shops.

ATMs are the easiest way to get cash. Exchange offices cluster at the airport and in central Dakar and become scarce in smaller towns. Diaspora travelers who come back regularly should keep a local SIM active so their Wave account stays usable.
