Landing at Blaise Diagne International Airport (AIBD) in Diass and hoping to drive away yourself? It is often the smartest option if you arrive with family, heavy luggage, or plans that stretch beyond Dakar. Picking up your car when you land

AIBD sits around fifty kilometres from central Dakar. Once you clear immigration and collect your bags, you walk out into the arrivals hall and then onto the forecourt, where taxis, hotel shuttles and private drivers wait.

• Desk or airport car park pick up: you sign on site, take the keys and drive off. Smoothest option, but it has to be booked ahead.

• Staying in Saly or on the Petite Côte? You skip Dakar altogether: head towards Mbour, about an hour from the airport.
